(KTNC) -- Mound City will continue its policy to grade alleys in town as needed. The Board of Aldermen decided, after a lengthy discussion last week, to continue the policy that was set by a previous council.
Rock will be applied to allies at the discretion of the Street Department. Residents who request rock for their adjoining alley will be required to split the cost with the city.
Mound City Aldermen spent time discussing a couple other issues last week. One concerns a problem with the lime machine at the water plant that caused water to the system to become discolored. Though the water was discolored, it was filtered and was safe to drink.
The council also discussed recent odors coming from the lagoon. Sewer Superintendent Kelly Graves said the smell intensifies each year when the water in the lagoon turns over.
