The State Theater in Mound City will kick off its silver anniversary season this weekend with what promises to be an entertaining show.
State Theater president Mari Ferguson says they’ll have a band from Branson on stage Saturday evening, when the Missouri Boatright Bluegrass Band takes the stage. The band has performed at the American Bandstand Theater and Silver Dollar City. There are five members in the band, including mandolin player Dean Webb, who was part of the Darling Family that made six guest appearances on the "Andy Griffith Show." The band's motto is "once this band starts, there's no stopping 'em."
Show time is 7:00 p.m. Saturday. Tickets are $20 in advance or $25 at the door Saturday, and $10 for students. Tickets are available by calling the theater box office at 660-442-5909.
The Missouri Boatride Bluegrass Band is the first show of what Ferguson says will be a busy season at the State Theater, with a wide variety of musical acts. (play audio :44 “to April.”)
They’ll also have a storyteller in December for the theater’s children’s Christmas Show.
Saturday’s performance is the first of the 25th season of shows since a group of Mound City area citizens began revitalizing the 75-year-old State Theater.
