(KMZA)--The Nemaha Central USD 115 Board of Education this week reviewed a proposed contract for sale of the B&B Junior/Senior High School building as drafted by the legal counsel for Highland Community College.
Superintendent Darrel Kohlman recommended changing the contract to exclude certain contents the school district would like to keep. Board members agreed, directing Kohlman to address the wording with the HCC President.
As part of the planning for the sale, Kohlman recently met with relatives of the original owners of the land which now houses the football field. The original 4 acres was purchased in 1949. That property, not included in the sale to HCC, will be sold back to the family, with no district monies to be spent on clearing the standing lights and buildings.
Last month the school board and Highland Community College agreed on a price of $350,000 for the school, shop buidling and parking lot, to be used by HCC as a regional career and technical education center for the college's western service area.
