Jerad Hawkins‘(Wathena) RBI single in the bottom of the ninth inning gave Highland a 2-1 win over North Central Missouri State College in a non-league game. Derek Hammer (Rossville) led off the ninth inning with a single, followed by a one out single by Josh Reynolds (Gretna, NE), setting up Hawkins’ game winning hit. Jeremy Monty’s (Colorado Springs, CO) RBI single in the seventh inning tied the game at 1-1. The Scotties struggled to come up with big hits all game, leaving runners in scoring position in six of the nine innings. Hawkins, Monty, and Reynolds had two hits in the game. Five Scottie pitchers combined to hold North Central to one run on six hits while striking four batters. Tyler Goldsberry (Papillion, NE) picked up the win, pitching a scoreless ninth inning. Tyler Hinkle (Omaha, NE) threw three scoreless innings, allowing just one hit.
