A facelift to a popular Atchison fast food restaurant is nearing completion.
According to McDonald’s Office Manager Cathy Christ, there is a deadline of May 11th to get all renovations completed to the restaurant.
The side lobby is complete and open to customers and work is currently underway to the front dining room area and brickwork on the outside.
The new drive through kiosk is up and running and will eventually become a two lane drive through once concrete is poured on the second lane.
This is the first time cosmetic changes have occurred at the restaurant since adding the front dining area and rear portion in 1998.
The restaurant had the changes approved through city government late last fall.
Christ says the local office does not know the total cost of the project.
The restaurant first opened in Atchison on October 6th, 1983.
