The rebuilding process of Bartlett Grain Elevator in Atchison has already started, and can been seen online.

The Kansas City based company has instituted a web cam to document the progress of the construction around the clock.

The concrete pour began on Friday.

The pour will take 5.5 days of round-the- clock work by two crews of 110 people each.

The new elevator will have one million bushels of grain capacity, 20% more than the old facility, and the latest technology to significantly improve unload speeds.

Sources estimate that around 60 feet of concrete has been poured as of Monday.

The 14 concrete silos will be 146.5 feet high and the elevator will be 200 feet at its highest point.

Three high-speed truck dumps will effectively double the previous unload speed.

Bartlett officials say the elevator will begin operating September 15th.

Bartlett is contracting grain from farmers now for the 2012 harvest.

The elevator suffered significant damage and had to be torn down following an explosion October 29th last year that claimed six lives and severely injured two others.
