Royals started off the series with a tight win, with Danny Duffy pitching a solid outing, Mike Moustakas providing the pop with the bat and the Royals displaying great fielding in the matchup. Moustakas got the Royals on the board early with a solo-homerun. Yankees would try and make a push but never could over take the Royals, as the bullpen pitched the remaining three and two-third innings after Duffy left the game in the fifth inning. Closer, Jonathan Broxton notched his fifth save of the season, helping preserve the win as the Royals display great leather in the ninth, turning a double-play and third baseman, Mike Moustakas getting the last out as he bare-handed a slow-roller to throw out Alex Rodriguez at first, preserving the 4-3 win for the Royals. Moustakas finished the game for 2-4 with homerun, three RBI's and a run scored.

Game two went the Yankees way as both teams got on the board early in the first inning each plating two-runs in their respective at-bats in the first, after that the only offense came at the hands of the Yankees in a four-run seventh inning. Behind CC Sabathia's, pitching outing of eight solid innings, settling down after initially giving up two early runs and another multi-hit game from Derek Jeter, who had one in game one of the series the Yankees muscled their way to the game two 6-2 victory.

Saturday's game saw the Royals send out a new starter for the first time this season in Felipe Paulino, who was coming off the disabled list after his injury back in spring training. Royals got out to an early lead and Paulino pitched a solid six innings of work striking out six and not allowing a run. Left fielder, Alex Gordon provided the big spark on the offense end for the Royals as he went 4-5 with a double, RBI and two runs scored, to help the Royals win game three 5-1.

Sunday rolled around and it was the Yankees bats warming up to help them earn the split against the Royals. Luke Hochevar was on the mound for the Royals but he didn't stay there very long only pitching two and one-third innings giving up seven runs. Yankees offensive onslaught included 12 hits, four of which were homeruns with one being a grand slam from Curtis Granderson. Royals did muster nine hits but only four-runs which was not enough to overcome the Yankees bats, as New York would win it 10-4.

Royals earned their first two home victories of the 2012 baseball season, getting the split with the Yankees in the four-game series. They continue their homestand tonight against another AL East opponent in the Boston Red Sox's who are 11-16 on the season and have loss five straight. The Royals are now 9-18 going into the three-game series against the Red Sox's. Jonathan Sanchez (1-1) with a 5.24 ERA will start for Kansas City, while Felix Doubront (1-1) with a 5.19 ERA will start for Boston.
