USD 415 Budget Contains Mill Levy Decrease
07/27/2012

( KNZA )--The Hiawatha USD 415 Board of Education has approved for publication a proposed 2012-2013 budget of nearly $14.5 million that calls for a slight decrease in the property tax levy.
The proposed budget approved for publication during a  meeting Thursday morning contains an estimated tax rate of 52.668 mills, which is about a  4-tenths of a mill decrease over the 2011-2012 budget.
The amount of taxes to be levied is nearly $4.3 million.
The mill levy decrease is being attributed to a more than $2 million increase in the district's assessed valuation to nearly $84 million.
The board will consider adoption of the budget following a public hearing at their August 13th meeting.
