08/02/2012

(KAIR) -- Around 45 minutes of a one hour Atchison Planning Commission meeting Wednesday was a workshop about proposed reforms to signage for businesses and billboards in Atchison city limits.

After going over the draft of proposed additions and subtractions to the current sign ordinance, it was determined at the next Atchison Planning Commission meeting on September 5th that business owners and managers should be in attendance to provide ideas and feedback to Planning Commissioners in an effort to provide an ordinance that best reflects the needs of business owners.

Acting Chairman for the meeting, Derek Franklin summed up Wednesday’s workshop in a few simple words.

Commissioners also approved a setback variance for Gifford and Pamela Dunn to rebuild a garage that closely resembles their 1881 Victorian style home.

Their current garage was built in the 1930s and was suffering from effects of a fire and termite damage.
