(KLZA) Dr. Greg Galardi, Peru State College (PSC) Dean of Professional Studies, has been reappointed associate editor of the Lambda Alpha Epsilon Journal of the American Criminal Justice Association for the 2012-2013 academic year.
Lambda Alpha Epsilon is an association of faculty and students involved in the study of criminal justice with a primary focus on law enforcement. There are 141 Lambda Alpha Epsilon chapters and over 2,900 members at universities and colleges throughout the United States.
Among the duties Galardi continues are peer review of scholarly articles pertinent to the criminal justice system, invitation of articles from experts in criminal justice and board member oversight of the journal publication.
Galardi said, “I welcome the opportunity to work with my colleagues who are scholars and practitioners across the United States and to providing service to the academic and law enforcement community. It truly is an honor to be part of this organization.”
The objectives of Lambda Alpha Epsilon include improvement of criminal justice through educational activities, fostering of professionalism among law enforcement agencies, public awareness of issues relevant to criminal justice, encouragement of expansion of education and professionalism in policing, provision of a unified voice for professionals and students in the criminal justice field, and promotion of high standards of ethical conduct and professionalism in criminal justice education and practice.
Lambda Alpha Epsilon offers many academic and practical opportunities to its members. One of the most important is the annual academic paper competition and conference for students. Participation in this competition allows students to compete with peers from throughout the United States. There are also annual academic competitions in the disciplines of correction, policing, general law enforcement and crime scene investigation, as well as physical competitions in obstacle courses and marksmanship.
