(KTNC) - The Mound City Board of Aldermen continued discussion on the swimming pool bathhouse during its September meeting.
The council has been exploring ways to correct problems with the building’s roof and lack of storage. The council has sought bids for a new building, but that is cost prohibitive.
Alderwoman Kristine Gibson says consideration is now being given to repairing the roof and increasing storage capacity by taking down the walls that separate the old bathrooms on the east side of the building.
The council has contacted Corey Gordon about submitting a quote to sandblast and paint the filter tanks at the pool.
Gibson also told the council that she would like to install new playground equipment at Griffith Park, at an estimated cost of $59,000, and move the existing equipment to Chautauqua Park. Gibson said the new play station could accommodate up to 18 children with 15 different activities.
In other business this month, the Mound City Council moved to get rid of some surplus city equipment. That includes a couple snowplows, a mower/shredder, and the white spreader truck. The city will sell the snowplows and shredder for scrap and will take bids to sell the old truck.
The council approved a permit for Northwest Missouri Enterprise Facilitation to host the 2012 Wine Fest at Griffith Park on October 6th, and approved temporary liquor licenses for caterers at the event.
The annual Mound City clean-up day is scheduled for Sunday, September 30th, from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m. at the pool parking lot.
