(KTNC) - The Democrat running to unseat Republican incumbent Adrian Smith in Nebraska’s 3rd Congressional District talked to voters in Falls City Sunday evening.
Sullivan is a farmer and feedlot operator from Doniphan, Nebraska, who’s making his first run for elective office. He got into the race on March 1st when he noticed Smith was unopposed for reelection and says he’d like to work to end the political gridlock in Washington, D.C.
Sullivan says we need to grow the economy “from the ground up.” He says while budget cuts may be necessary, they should be done cautiously. (play audio :43)
Sullivan says the 3rd District – which stretches across the state from east to west – and the state of Nebraska are models for the rest of the nation, but not because of the political leaders. (play audio :25)
Sullivan says average citizens in the 3rd District aren’t as politically polarized as elected officials and the news media – and people need to demand good government from their representatives.
While he is from Doniphan, Mark Sullivan does have a family connection to Falls City, as he explained Sunday. (play audio :33)
Sullivan made his comments during a stop Sunday evening at the Grand Weaver Hotel in Falls City.
