(KNZA)--Public awareness, in an attempt to detour rural residential burglaries, remains a focus of Brown County authorities as such crimes continue to be reported.
It was just this week, during the meeting of the Brown County Commission, that conversation drifted toward that matter, with one attendee of the session discussing the latest losses he's incurred by thieves.
Brown County Sheriff John Merchant continues to encourage county residents to report immediately suspicious activity they may notice.
Merchant says proactive steps can go a long way towards preventing burglaries, such as making sure all structures are locked as well as adding extra lighting around property.
