Nobel Peace Prize Winner to Speak at Peru State

(KTNC) - A Nobel Peace Prize Laureate is the next speaker in Peru State College’s Distinguished Speaker Series. 
 Dr. Shirin Ebadi will speak at the College Theatre at 7:00 p.m. Monday, February 25. 
Dr. Ebadi is the first Iranian, and the first Muslim woman, to win the Nobel Peace Prize.  Her presentation is titled “Iran Awakening: A Story of Revolution and Hope.”
Dr. Ebadi champions democracy and basic human rights for women, children, and all individuals.  She created one of the first independent, non-governmental human rights organizations in Iran – The Society for the Protection of the Rights of the Child.  She is the author of two books “Iran Awakening: One Woman’s Journey to Reclaim Her Life and Country,” and “The Golden Age.”
Dr. Ebadi’s presentation at Peru State College is free and open to the public.
