Mound City School Board Approves Staffing Changes

 (KLZA) The Mound City School Board accepted the resignation of Agriculture Education instructor David Gomel when they met Monday.  Gomel will retire June 30th.  Gomel presented a staff input report during the meeting along with part-time Spanish instructor Nora Noellsch who announced earlier that she is also retiring.

The Board did vote to hire Emily Hamm as the districts Middle School Language Arts instructor.  Permanent contracts were also offered to first grade teacher Laura Forehand, third grade teacher Cheryl Mauderly and speech pathologist Sandy Hughes.  Permanent contracts are offered once a teacher has taught five years in a school district. 

Superintendent Eaton also reported to the Board members that Mid America Solutions will be taking a look at the school building in Mound City to see if improvements can be made. ( play audio :24 seconds ) 

The Board set the annual reorganization meeting for April 17th at 7 p-m  That will follow the April 2nd election during which two board members will be elected.

Superintendent Eaton also notes that Elementary Principal Jan Seitz and First Grade Teacher Laura Forehand attended the Distinction and Performance Banquet at Northwest Missouri State University Monday night.  The Mound City School District was recognized for another perfect score on the annual performance report.  ( play audio :09 seconds ) 

The Mound City Board also approved the sale of a surplus school bus to Troy Lawson who submitted the high bid of $1751.

Kase Newcombe and Alex Phillips, president and vice president of the Mound City chapter of the Future Business Leaders of America also presented information to the Board about their organization.
