Hiawatha Woman Pleads Guilty to Amended Charge
03/25/2013

(KAIR) -- A Hiawatha woman, already facing a prison term for violating her probation, pleads guilty to an amended charge stemming from an incident in the Atchison County Jail.

Cassandra Hughes entered the plea Monday in Atchison County District Court to a charge of conspiracy to traffic contraband into a correctional facility.

Sentencing is set for April 29th.

She was charged after jailers found unauthorized sleep aid tablets in her cell in late February.

Hughes a day before had her probation revoked on a possession of narcotics charge from 2011 and was ordered to serve her original 11 month sentence in prison.
