Johnson Brock Hires new Principal
04/10/2013

(KTNC) - The Johnson-Brock School Board hired a new Principal during Monday’s meeting.  The board approved a contract with Payton Lewis for the next school year.  Lewis is originally from Yutan, Nebraska, and is currently an art teacher in the Gretna School District.
Thirty-two people applied for the position, and the school board interviewed five of the candidates.  Lewis replaces Jacque Kelsay, who accepted a position as Elementary Principal in the Auburn School District.
In other action Monday, the Johnson-Brock School Board approved a contract with VonLintel Refinishing and Flooring to refinish and repaint the gym floor, at a cost of $16,800.
Superintendent Jeff Koehler says they also accepted a bid from Americom to install a new phone system in the school.   (play audio   :29)
Koehler says the board approved a motion to have the school district take over the pre-school program.  It’s anticipated that more youngsters will be able to participate in the pre-school program if it’s run by the school district.  Koehler says there was some discussion Monday about having the school provide transportation for the youngsters, but he doesn’t expect to have large numbers of pre-schoolers riding the school bus.  (play audio  :34)
The Johnson-Brock School Board also approved the Special Education Contract with ESU 4 for the next school year, in the amount of $175,320.
Koehler says four Johnson-Brock students will be attending the FFA Nationals in San Antonio this spring, and 11 FBLA members will attend the National Convention in Los Angeles this summer.
