(KAIR) -- Two Jefferson County bridges were closed over the weekend by the Kansas Department of Transportation.
Road and Bridge Supervisor Francis Hubbard met with Commissioners this week and said one is located within the city of Perry and the other west of Oskaloosa.
KDOT says the bridges failed a “Critical Inspection Finding.”
Hubbard estimated a total cost of 980 thousand dollars to replace the bridges.
No action was taken on the matter.
In another matter, Curt Niehaus with KDOT met with Commissioners requesting the county take over the maintenance of two spur routes in the county.
One is K-245 from K-4 highway to the Meriden city limits and the other is K-76 from U.S. 24 highway to one fifth of a mile into Williamstown.
KDOT would offer a onetime payment to take over and Commissioners said they would take the offer under consideration.
