Atchison Co Attorney Reacts to New Drug Law
04/15/2013

(KAIR) -- A bill, recently signed into law by Kansas Governor Sam Brownback, will increase penalties for distributors of illegal drugs that cause bodily harm, or even death.

The bill creates two new crimes: distribution of a controlled substance causing great bodily harm, and distribution of a controlled substance causing death. Both are felonies.

Atchison County Attorney Gerald Kuckelman says while  hasn’t seen such incidents during his years in office, various problems that have come up in other cases could make this situation possible.  (Play Audio)

The law will take effect July 1st
