Bond Reduction Denied in Aerial Drug Bust Cases
04/20/2013

(KAIR) -- Bond reduction has been denied for two suspects connected to an aerial drug bust in Atchison earlier this month.

Judge Martin Asher denied the reduction of the 250 thousand dollar bonds for William Hiler and Lance Thompson, both of Colorado.

Police arrested Hiler and Thompson, along with three others, in early April when Atchison Police intercepted a transaction of what is believed to be 42 pounds of high-grade marijuana worth over 100 thousand dollars at the Amelia Earhart Airport.

Hiler and Thompson were on a plane, believed to be coming from Colorado to meet a vehicle coming to the airport from Kansas City, Missouri.

Police seized the alleged marijuana, car and plane.

Hiler, along with Daniel Brown, will make their next appearance in court April 26th.

Thompson will make his next appearance on May 24th.

Another suspect, Michael Staab, will make his next appearance May 20th.

All remain in Atchison County Jail, except for Brown, who posted a 100 thousand dollar bond.

County Attorney Gerald Kuckelman says bond was set higher for Hiler and Thompson due to their criminal history.
