(KTNC) - Two veteran teachers in the Falls City Public School District were recognized with a new award Monday.
Melissa Hawley, who’s entering her 14th year as a kindergarten teacher at North School, and Tom Weinert, who’s beginning his 34th year as a science teacher at Falls City High School were named the recipients of the Outstanding Elementary and Secondary Teacher of the Year Awards.   (play audio  :08    “school district.”)
That’s Superintendent Tim Heckenlively, who says the award was created through a gift to the Falls City Education Foundation.  (play audio  :32   “a thousand dollars.”)
The awards were presented Monday morning during the District 56 pre-service event at Falls City High School.
