(KLZA) -- Richardson County Commissioners have approved entering into a contract with Herbst Construction of LeMars, Iowa for the construction of a bridge northwest of Humboldt. Herbst was recently awarded the bid in the amount of $470,158 to build the bridge, replacing a bridge that was destroyed when a tractor pulling fertilizer equipment across it caused the bridge to collapse.
Commissioners Jim Davidson and James Standerford voted to approve a memorandum of agreement for the National Weather Service to handle notification of emergencies that would occur at the Cooper Nuclear Station near Brownville, and the Fort Calhoun Nuclear Station north of Omaha instead of an Omaha news station.
The Board also approved an agreement with First Concord to administer the Count Section 125 Plan regarding medical reimbursement accounts effective January 1.
Commissioner David Sickel was absent from the meeting which lasted less than two hours Tuesday.
