Pawnee City School

(KTNC)-- A few renovation projects got the go-ahead from the Pawnee City School Board this week.
The board approved the renovation of the old elementary restrooms, the elementary janitor’s closet, and the textbook storage closet.
The restroom renovation includes replacing ceramic floor tile and other repairs, while the vinyl floor tile will be replaced in the janitor’s closet and storage closet.
The board approved the price of $7,465 to replace the water fountain in the cafeteria and tile walls in the cafeteria restroom.
The board also approved funding for the district’s energy efficiency projects. The board approved a motion to use Special Building funds to pay for the projects that aren’t covered by the Qualified Capital Purpose Undertaking Fund. They approved the use of Depreciation Funds to pay for the restroom remodeling projects and the balance of the energy efficiency projects as needed.
In new business, the Pawnee City board approved Spanish textbooks and the purchase of the Reading Wonders curriculum for grades two through six.
And the board accepted, with regret, the resignation of elementary teacher Kelly Neels and approved a recommendation to hire Scott Brumbaugh as an elementary teacher.
