Southeast Nebraska Unemployment Figures Increase in June

(KLZA)-- Unemployment in Nebraska dipped slightly in June to 3.5 percent, a tenth of a point below the May rate of 3.6 percent but a half-point below the June 2013 figure.

For southeast Nebraska counties the unemployment rate increased in June.

Nemaha County, Nebraska had the largest increase in unemployment, up nine-tenths to 5.4 percent which is the third highest rate in the state.

For Richardson County the unemployment rate for June was up half a percentage point to 4.5 percent.  Johnson County was up a tenth to 4 percent;  Pawnee County was up 5-tenths to 3.2 percent.

Elsewhere the June unemployment rate was 3.7 percent in Gage County and 3.8 percent in Otoe County. 

The Nebraska Labor Department says the statewide figure for June is well below the preliminary national unemployment rate of 6.1 percent.  In May the national average was 6.3 percent.
