Neb June Unemployment Report

(KLZA)-- The June unemployment rate was higher in the six southeastern-most counties in Nebraska, however, statewide the June rate was steady at 2.6 percent which continues to be the best rate in the nation. 

Nemaha County, Nebraska has the highest unemployment rate in the are at 4.2 percent which is one of only six of Nebraska’s 93 counties with a jobless rates of 4 percent or higher. That figure is up 7-tenths from May.

Pawnee County continues to have the best unemployment rate in Southeast Nebraska at 2.7 percent. That rate is up 4-tenths.

Other area county unemployment rates in June were 3.4 percent in Richardson County, 3 percent in Johnson, 3.6 percent in Gage, 3.4 percent in Otoe County.  

North Dakota has the second best unemployment rate at 3.1 percent and Utah is third at 3.5.  Iowa is fifth at 3.7 percent; Kansas is 15th in the nation at 4.5 percent, Missouri is 35th at 5.8 percent unemployment. Among all 50 states and the District of Columbia, West Virginia has the highest jobless rate at 7.4 percent.
