A 23-year-old Nortonville man is in custody on multiple charges, including aggravated assault.
According to the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Department, deputies received a call early Tuesday morning from the Atchison Hospital regarding treatment of a male victim from Saint Joseph for laceration wounds to the face.
After interviewing the victim, deputies went to a residence in Nortonville, where they believe a domestic incident had ensued hours earlier, which escalated into a knife being pulled, leading to the victims wounds.
After further investigation, Deputies arrested Jeramie Scherer as being the alleged assailant.
In addition to the aggravated assault charge, he faces misdemeanor counts of domestic battery and disorderly conduct.
He remains in the Jefferson County Jail awaiting bond and formal charges.
