Memorial Day observances were held in towns around the region and nation Monday. A short service was held at Steele Cemetery in Falls City, with the speaker, World War Two veteran Bill Schock.

Schock said he hoped those who attended the service were there because they wanted to be there, not because they thought it was their duty. Monday’s service at Steele Cemetery lasted for approximately 20 minutes.
