A little more than $3,200 was raised for nine local organizations during Saturday’s Edwin S. Towle III golf tournament at the Falls City Country Club.
The largest donation went to the Falls City Backpack Project, which received $2,025. Other beneficiaries included: the CMC Building Fund, $271; the Richardson County Cancer Fund; $192; the Ball Park Improvement Fund, $192; the Richardson County Historical Society, $138; Falls City Travelers Softball, $113; the Sacred Heart Booster Club, $113; and American Legion Baseball, $113.
Twenty-one three-person teams participated in the tournament. The team of Rob Gerweck, Don Ferguson and John McNeely shot a 55 to win the men’s championship flight. The team of Eric Kirkendall, Jeremy Kirkendall and Brandon Gill was second with a 56.
Men’s first flight winners were Tony Brunette, Bill Jenkins and Jerry Brunette with a 60.
Men’s second flight winners were Steve Kottich, Tim Heckenlively and Bob Aitken with a 63.
Mixed championship flight winners were Dorothy Towle, Curt Quady and AJ Mertens with a score of 53.
First place in the women’s championship flight went to the team of Pat Rieschick, Linda Santo and Connie Taft with a score of 70.
This was the 8th year for the tournament. More than $7,000 has been raised for 18 local charities in those eight years.
