Nemaha County Fire District #2 has been awarded a nearly 5-thousand dollar grant for the purchase of fire equipment.
Jerry Niehues, a fireman with the Corning-based fire district, said the $4,944 grant comes from the Kansas Forest Service.
Niehues said it will be used to purchase hoses, adapters and nozzles for the department's fire trucks.
The fire district will pay 50 percent of the project cost or $2,472.
