Saturday Storms Damage Effingham Businesses
06/26/2012

Rainfall and thunderstorms rolled through the region in two waves on Saturday, but the second wave caused damage to two Effingham businesses.

A believed microburst from the storm caused roof damage to the “Now ‘N Then” store in downtown Effingham.

Rubble from that incident then blew across the street, breaking the front windows of “Martha’s Stitch Shop,” causing minor cuts to the owner inside from the flying glass.

Crews came in to clean the rubble within a few hours following the storm and both stores were back open for business Monday morning.
