An Amber Alert is issued for a missing 16-year-old girl, who lives in Atchiosn County but has connections to both Atchison and Leavenworth.
The alert was issued shortly before 3:00 Thursday afternoon.
Authorities believe Jenna Hord may have been kidnapped Wednesday night in Leavenworth by a 17-year-old boy, identified as Logan Burris. Family members of Hord, including her step-father, Don Besette, say he is her ex-boyfriend(Play Audio)
Hord is described as white with brown eyes and bleach blonde hair. She stands around 4 feet 11 inches and weighs around 130 pounds.
She has a tattoo on her right upper chest and was last seeing wearing a blue or black tank top, denim shorts and tennis shoes.
Burris is a white male whose eyes are described both as hazel and brown. He stands five feet 8 inches and weighs 130 pounds. It's unknown what he may be wearing.
It's believed he's driving the victim's car, described as a white two door 1996 Toyota Camry. The Atchison County license plate is 168 DHH.
Leavenworth authorities say the suspected kidnapping happened, following an altercation around 9:00 Wednesday night, in the parking lot of a Leavenworth Casey's convenience store, located at 20th and Spruce Streets.
Eyewitnesses say Burris grabbed her by the arm and forced her into the passenger seat of her car, which he drove away.
Besette says Jenna's relationship with Burris has been plagued with violence(Play Audio)
Besette believes, based on both an eyewitness report, and threats he says have been made to him, his wife, and others, that Burris is armed(Play Audio)
Although police have had no contact with her, Hord reportedly talked to a friend by phone since the apparent abduction; and, while she said she was ok, she provided no other details.
Anyone who has information regarding the whereabouts of Hord and Burris are asked to contact 911 or the Kansas Bureau of Investigation at 800-KS-CRIME.
