(KAIR) -- A 34-year-old Nortonville man pled guilty to his second possession of methamphetamine charge in as many months prior to his scheduled preliminary hearing Tuesday in Atchison County District Court.
Ernest “Chip” Reynolds’s sentencing on both charges is now scheduled for October 1st.
Atchison County Attorney Gerald Kuckelman says sentencing guidelines call for presumptive probation, but he plans to file a motion for a departure from the guidelines.
Kuckelman cites the close proximity of his meth arrests as a reason that Reynolds wouldn’t be a good candidate for probation.
Reynolds was arrested in early May in association with a drug raid of an Atchison residence that led to the arrest of four other individuals.
After pleading guilty to that charge and posting bond, he was arrested again in early July for possessing the drug on another occasion and had his bond revoked in the previous case.
