(KAIR) -- Nineteen non-profit organizations in Atchison were awarded parts of just over 190 thousand dollars from the Courtney S. Turner Charitable Trust.
Awards included 50 thousand dollars to the Atchison YMCA, 15 thousand 500 dollars to the Boys & Girls Club and 14 thousand 565 dollars to the Humane Society of Atchison.
Since 1987 the Turner Trust has given over 12 million dollars to Atchison.
The award is named after the former Colonel, businessman and philanthropist who died in 1986.
The fund was established to continue Turner’s contributions that were accomplished during his lifetime.
The funds become eligible for use March 1st.
