(KAIR) -- Talks resumed Monday on upgrading the phone system at the Atchison County Courthouse to a voice internet phone system.
That came after a joint project stalled with the county, the city of Atchison and Atchison Hospital when unforeseen costs not beneficial to the city and hospital came about.
Commissioner Mike Bodenhausen says the county will look to move forward with the project solo, with the other two entities having the option to join in later.

Bodenhausen says action on this matter is expected in mid-May.
In other business, Commissioners signed off on a letter to send to Governor Sam Brownback and other state officials encouraging re-examination of a property valuation assessment classification.
That comes after five counties started implementing a reclassification of wasteland within the “other” category, following a Court of Appeals ruling for similar property in Sumner County.
As a result, many property owners have seen a jump in assessments of wasteland from 10 dollars an acre to 11 hundred dollars an acre.
