(KTNC) - Three southeast Nebraska communities are still accepting applications for owner occupied housing rehabilitation projects, funded with Community Development Block Grant funds.
Auburn, Peru, and Stella received grant funds last fall to complete rehab projects for homeowners who meet income guidelines. According to Southeast Nebraska Development District, which is administering the grants, there is an opportunity for two or three more owner occupants in each community to apply for rehab assistance.
Program funds can be used for heating, plumbing, roofs, windows, doors, and other repairs. The maximum amount available is $24,995 per home, with priority given to those in the lowest income brackets.
SENDD officials say with construction to start soon on the first round of rehab projects, interested homeowners should contact their Humboldt office at 402-862-2201 to request an application.
According to SENDD, it appears that Auburn and Peru will each be able to fund a total of eight rehab projects, while Stella expects to complete four owner occupied rehab projects.
