(KTNC) - A longtime economic development figure in southeast Nebraska has taken a position in South Dakota.
Kevin Burnison, who has spent 26 years at the Southeast Nebraska Development District, has accepted a position with the South Eastern Council of Governments in Sioux Falls.
Over the last quarter century, Burnison has provided services to local leaders and communities throughout southeast Nebraska – especially in Johnson, Nemaha, Richardson, and Pawnee Counties.
In a memo to SENDD staff, Burnison said it’s his belief that rural communities deserve the same professional staff that major metropolitan areas would expect, and he said he’s “tried to meet that high standard of delivering professional services” in responding to requests.
SENDD Executive Director Dave Taladay accepted Burnison’s resignation letter, with regret. Burnison’s resignation is effective May 31, but his last working day at SENDD was May 16.
