(KAIR) -- In a short meeting of the Atchison County Commission Wednesday, the commission unanimously approved the merger of Atchison County Rural Fire District Two and the Effingham Fire Department after no citizen comment.
The departments were already sharing facilities in Effingham.
The merger passed the Effingham City Council earlier this year.
Commissioners also purchased a lowboy trailer for the Road and Bridge Department to haul heavy equipment for roughly 39 thousand dollars.
