(KTNC) -- The Nebraska statewide tornado drill is scheduled for Wednesday, as part of the state’s Severe Weather Awareness Week activities.
The weeklong observance runs through Friday. Wednesday’s tornado drill is a time for residents and businesses to test their severe weather emergency preparedness plans.
The drill will begin around 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday with the issuance of a mock tornado warning and activation of outdoor warning sirens about 10 to 15 minutes later.
Another mock tornado warning may be issued sometime around 7:00 p.m. that evening and communities may choose to activate their warning sirens, weather permitting.
The drill may be postponed or canceled if severe weather is possible that day.
Each day of the week will focus on different types of severe weather, including flash flooding, severe thunderstorms, developing a family emergency plan, and how watches and warnings have changed in recent years. Learn more at www.weather.gov.
