(KNZA)--The Kansas Department of Transportation has accepted a bid for a resurfacing project on U.S. 36 Highway in Doniphan County.
St. Joseph-based Herzog Contracting Corporation was awarded the bid for the $8.5 million more than 24-mile project, which also includes K-238.
The project will take place on U.S. 36 highway from just east of the Doniphan/Brown County line through the city of Wathena. The project will also include the milling and overlay of K-238 from the junction with U.S. 36 north into the city of Elwood.
A spokeswoman for KDOT says the estimated start date for the project is May 30th, with a late December completion. Bids were opened in Topeka on March 26th.
