(KAIR) -- A 32-year-old Nortonville man who was out on bond on vehicular manslaughter charges is back in jail on DUI-related charges.
Brian Keefe was arrested by the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Department Monday night after they received a report of a single-vehicle, non-injury accident from witnesses.
According to Jefferson County Sheriff’ Jeff Herrig, the accident occurred on Scott Road about a mile and a half north of Winchester shortly after 8:20 p.m.
After Deputies arrived, they alleged that Keefe was under the influence was alcohol. He was booked into the Jefferson County Jail on charges of DUI, transporting an open container and reckless driving.
Herrig says Keefe remains in jail after bond was denied by a judge.
He currently has a case in Jefferson County Court where he faces two counts of vehicular manslaughter and an additional count of misdemeanor DUI for allegedly being under the influence of alcohol or drugs during a two vehicle accident that claimed the lives of 38 year old Shawn Fraker of Winchester and 27 year old Daniel Walker of Oskaloosa on March 29, 2011.
According to the Kansas Highway Patrol, a 2005 Kia Sedona driven by Keefe went left to center on Hickory Point Road and hit a 2002 Acura, driven by Walker, head on.
Keefe was severely injured in the wreck.
He had been free on $10,000 bond since late March.
Keefe has a preliminary hearing on the old charges scheduled for September 23rd.
