10/23/2012

(KAIR) -- Atchison County Commissioners have begun preliminary discussions of creating a permanent project manager position for the county.

A majority of Monday afternoon’s meeting had several department heads or county officials give their feedback to Commissioners.

County Commissioner Jeff Schuele says the position would focus of four key areas for the county.

Schuele says they are aiming to discuss the issue further and possibly act on advertising for the position as soon as Wednesday’s  meeting.

The position has similarities to the current role of Solid Waste Project Manager Chase Brunick, who will complete his duties on the solid waste project at the end of November.

Commissioners also took a field trip to Memorial Hall in Atchison to view the needs of the upcoming window lentil project next year, as well as get a logistical idea for any further improvements that may be needed in the future.
