(KLZA) The Mound City School Board met last week. Following a public hearing drawing no public comment Board members approved a school calendar for the 2013-14 school year. The first day for students to come back to class will be August 19th. Teachers will report on the 15th. The final day of the 2013-14 school year will be May 21st, 2014.
Following an executive session at the end of the regular agenda the Board approved hiring Superintendent Ken Eaton for an additional year making his contract three years. The salary will be set in March.
In other business staff reports were presented by P.E. teacher Derek Petty and by Pre-School Teacher Lisa Caton.
Changing the date of the March Board meeting to Monday, March 18th was approved due to out of town meetings for Superintendent Ken Eaton on the 20th.
The Board accepted the resignation of Middle School math teacher Darcy Kent. A number of policy revisions were also approved by the Board. Superintendent Eaton says you now have to include a lot of common sense items in the form of written policy. ( play audio :33 seconds )
