01/25/2013

(KAIR) -- A new caucus has emerged at the State Capitol in Topeka.

It’s the Kansas Rural Caucus.

Representative Jerry Henry is part of it.

The Cummings Democrat says its purpose is to get like-minded rural legislators together to share ideas.

Henry also discussed the possibility of legislation to make city and school board elections align with the mid-term or general elections.

He also says debate is expected on the House floor on a bill which would change the way Kansas Supreme Court and Appelate Judges will be selected.

The proposal, which passed out of committee this week, would have the Governor appoint judges and then they must be confirmed by the Senate.
