(KTNC) - The former Richardson County Emergency Management Director has a new position.
The Nemaha Natural Resources District Board of Directors has appointed Jim Gerweck to fill the vacancy in Sub-district 10. The position has been open since the beginning of the year, when longtime board member Ted Godemann resigned. Sub-district 10 is within the city limits of Falls City.
In his application letter, Gerweck indicated that his father’s conservation mindset influenced his decision to apply. He said he also has the time to devote to the position, since he recently retired as the Richardson County Emergency Management Director.
Because of a new state law, since the vacancy occurred early in the term, Gerweck will serve only through the end of this year.
Since no one filed to run for the remaining two years of the term in the general election, the board will have to appoint someone to fill the remainder of the term through 2016 at its January meeting.
