(KLZA) -- A May 7th preliminary hearing has been set for a former southeast Nebraska teacher accused of first-degree sexual assault.
According to the Lincoln Journal-Star, 24-year-old Carrie Miller appeared in county court in Tecumseh Wednesday, but didn't enter a plea during her arraignment.
Miller, who taught Spanish at Johnson County Central High School, was arrested in January following an investigation involving the Nebraska State Patrol and Johnson County Sheriff’s Office. Miller is alleged to have had a sexual relationship with a 15-year old male student.
Court documents allege Miller and the student had sexual contact 50 to 60 times from October 2012 through October 2013. It also alleges the encounters were arranged using a cell phone and they shared explicit photos of each other.
Most of the alleged encounters occurred in Miller’s vehicle at an abandoned farmstead in Nemaha County, Nebraska. At least one of the encounters is alleged to have occurred in Johnson County.
If convicted Miller is facing up to 50 years in prison.
Miller is currently free on bond.
