(KNZA)--For the second year in a row, the Hiawatha Police Department has received a monetary donation from the Atchison Elks Lodge.
Venita Ruhnke, representing the Elks Lodge, presented the donation to Police Chief John Defore during Tuesday evening's City Commission meeting.
Defore says his department will use the funds to help purchase new stop sticks for it’s patrol cars.
Ruhnke says the Elks Lodge raised enough money at their annual “ Drug Awareness Golf Tournament” to help fund new equipment for three law enforcement agencies in Atchison, Leavenworth and Hiawatha.
