Falls City Recreation has announced that the baseball and softball seasons this year will undergo schedule changes so work on the ballpark renovation project can begin as soon as possible.
The seasons will be five weeks long with a one-week tournament. Games will be played on Fridays and there will likely be some Saturday games. However, there will be on games scheduled on May 26th, which is Memorial Day Weekend.
The accelerated schedule will mean there will be some nights with three games per night on the ball diamonds. Start times those evenings will be 5, 6:30 and 8 p-m if necessary.
The tournament will be the week of June 18th – 22nd.
The Cookie and Small Girls games will be played at Dallas Jones Park this year because work is already underway at Grandview Park. Jr. Girls will play on the Midget Field as will the two, Jr. Midget Traveling Teams. Pee Wee’s will still be played on the same field.
The changes to the schedule have been made so construction can start earlier. Tentative plans are for Turf Solutions to begin the week of April 26th at Grandview Park. By doing that project early, the Falls City High Softball Team will have a field to play home games on this season. Work is expected to take about six weeks at Dallas Jones Park.
Falls City Recreation says the sacrifices for this one year will be well worth it next year and beyond.
