(KTNC) - The Pawnee City School Board approved the budget and tax levy during a special meeting Wednesday night.
Superintendent Stephen Grizzle says the General Fund levy will decrease by about a half cent to 96.6-cents per $100 of valuation. The Special Building Fund levy will increase by two-cents to six-cents. Grizzle says the board discussed increasing the Special Building Fund levy to seven-and-a-quarter cents, but chose to leave it at six cents.
The total levy of just over $1.02 per $100 of assessed valuation is an increase of approximately one-and-a-half cents from last year.
The tax request for the Pawnee City School District is $2.3 million for the General Fund and $146,000 for the Special Building Fund. The total district budget is $4.9 million. Grizzle says that is similar to the budget each of the last four years with a slight increase in the general instruction category.
