The condition of the 21-year-old victim of an attack in Horton, which led to an attempted murder charge on the alleged perpetrator, has improved significantly.

KAIR News was able to visit the victim over the weekend, just hours after she had a chest tube removed.
The victim is also out of ICU at the KU Medical Center and she said she hopes to be released within a few days.
She suffered from a collapsed lung, broken rib and multiple facial injuries after an attack, according to Horton Police, at her residence after she opened her door around 10:45 Wednesday evening.
Her three year old daughter also suffered a head laceration in the attack, and was treated and released at the Horton Community Hospital, and is doing well.
The alleged perpetrator, 24-year-old Matthew Hermreck of Lancaster, is still in Brown County Jail, facing multiple charges, including first degree attempted murder, aggravated endangering of a child, and aggravated burglary.
Bond has been set at one million dollars and he will have his preliminary hearing on Wednesday.
Horton Police, the Brown County Sheriff’s Office and the Kansas Bureau of Investigation have been working together in the investigation of the case.
