(KLZA) The Falls City, City Council met in special session last Friday in the Council Chambers at City Hall.
A public hearing was held to obtain input on the Community Development Block Grant Reuse Funds for Consolidated Grain and Barge Company.
Written comments by Stephen Mossman with Mattson, Ricketts, Davies, Stewart and Calkins law firm on behalf of David Leon Frederick were presented to the Council. The City response prepared by the Atwell Company to the written comments received on the Environmental Review Record for the 120 – Car Unit Train Grain Facility was presented to the Council. The Atwell Company conducted the environmental review of the site.

Following the hearing the council voted 6-1 to approved a memorandum of understanding between the City of Falls City and Consolidated Grain and Barge Company for a loan / grant in the amount of $200,000, from Community Development Block Grant, Economic Development ReUse Funds as recommended by the Citizens Advisory Review Committee. Council Person Judy Murphy cast the nay vote with Councilman Mike Moore absent.
The Council also voted 6-1 to approve the reconsideration of the MOU between the City of Falls City and CGB Company for a loan/grant in the amount of $500,000 from LB-840 Funds as recommended by the Citizens Advisory Review Committee. The Council had approved the action previously but reconsidered it after new appointments were made to the Citizens Advisory Review Committee.
The Council also met in executive session for approximately 30 minutes to discuss litigation. Attorney Richard Halbert was included in the executive session.
